🏆 Battery Recycling: The Dark Side of an All-EV Future (2nd place, Problems Worth Solving Competition 2023)

You’ve got to start with the customer experience and work back toward the technology, not the other way around. ~ Steve Jobs

Last weekend I had the opportunity to participate in Problems Worth Solving: Texas A&M’s first and only entrepreneurship competition that outright bans solutions.

Great businesses arise from an intimate understanding of your customers’ needs. PWS emphasizes this critical step of entrepreneurship by focusing entrepreneurs on the problem, not the solution. The competition was 5 minutes of presenting in-depth on an important problem that many face, and 5 minutes of Q&A with industry judges.

I chose to present on EV battery recycling. Current legislation aims to get more people into Electric Vehicles for the good of the climate and the environment. But our current solutions to recycle EV batteries are inefficient, expensive, and environmentally detrimental. I emphasized the need solutions for battery supply chains, recycling processes, and repairability that are cost-effective and scalable.

The whole experience was great! I ended up getting second place with this presentation. If you want to watch the presentation, check it out below!
